About Baden-Baden

By its size, Baden-Baden is considered a relatively small town, pleasantly located on the banks of the River Oos. According to historical records, Baden-Baden began its existence over two thousand years ago. Roman documents contain information that Baden-Baden was founded in 214 BCE. This fact is confirmed by the ruins of Roman baths that have survived in the city to this day.

After a Roman garrison was established in the city, Baden-Baden became incredibly popular. Its decline began in 476 CE. The former glory of the town was only regained in the early Renaissance era. By the 18th century, leisure in Baden-Baden became a symbol of luxury and incredible pleasure. The crème de la crème of European society flocked to the city to restore their vitality and improve their health.
