Are you finally going to see Athens? It's a city that wouldn't fit in a book, so let's start by simply listing the main must-see places.
Any map with Athens attractions points to:
- Parthenon and Acropolis - symbols of the Greek capital;
- Constitution Square, here called Syntagma, the center of the cultural, political and tourist life of the city;
- Plaka district - a sightseeing map of Athens would not be complete without the ancient Hadrian's Street, preserved here;
- Odeon Odeon Herodes Atticus marble amphitheater, where concerts, festivals, theater performances are held;
- National Archaeological Museum, whose 56 halls contain precious exhibits from various eras, including prehistory (you'll also find it when browsing Athens attractions).
This is the minimum program to be "done" for those who are running out of time.
The list of all the sights of Athens with names is much longer. Someone besides the "ruins" will want to see numerous local churches, someone is sure to plan a visit to the Temple of Zeus and the Tower of Winds Aerides - the ancient meteorological station of the Greeks. There will also be lovers of museums, of which there are many in Athens.
And finally, having come to Athens to capture the sights in photos, do not forget to just wander around the popular tourist areas, and if time permits, then go to the nearby islands.
