Hévíz is undeniably one of the most remarkable places on Earth. This small town, with a population of about 6,000 people, has developed around the thermal lake bearing the same name. Lake Hévíz has volcanic origins, forming within the crater of an extinct volcano. The lake is supplied by underground thermal springs located in a cave beneath it, maintaining a constant water temperature of no less than +26°C.
Hévíz began its journey as a balneological resort in the late 18th century when it was founded by Count Feštětich. The discovery of thermal springs and thermal muds in the area led to the establishment of the first therapeutic baths in Hévíz. Subsequently, mud baths became part of the offerings. Today, Hévíz boasts numerous health centers, spa hotels, and bathhouses. Alongside direct therapeutic immersions in the lake's waters, a wide range of balneological treatments and procedures involving healing peat mud from the lake's bed are available. The Hévíz State Spa, which is almost two centuries old, stands as the largest and best-equipped spa complex in the resort.
