Hévíz is considered one of the most popular resorts in Hungary. You won't need a map to figure out where Hévíz is. After all, the current balneo-mud plain resort is centered around the thermal Lake Heviz.
The area of the town does not exceed 4.5 hectares. The total population of Hévíz is limited to 6 thousand people. Today, the town is considered to be a famous bathing place for the whole world. However, few people know that Hévíz was founded by Count Feštětíč back in 1795.
From that time onwards, the lake waters and the healing mud began to be used for recreational purposes. In the same year, in the crater of the extinct volcano where the lake is located, the first bathing and mud cure center was built.
After just over a hundred years, the resort has gained popularity throughout the country. Between 2005 and 2010, the central part of the town and the infrastructure of the lake as a whole was completely reconstructed.
Today, Hévíz is a town that has preserved its ancient culture and centuries-old traditions, in the midst of which the modern spa is spread out. Usually, the course of treatment in Hévíz does not exceed 3 weeks. In addition to therapeutic bathing, the resort offers a full range of health procedures typical of balneological spas.
