Traditional dishes of Indonesia
There are many ways in which one can recognize
Indonesia. If you don't have the opportunity and time to visit the most popular islands of this country, then you should definitely try the national Indonesian cuisine. Such food needs no introduction, as its flavor
speaks for itself.
Due to the religiosity of the local population and Islamic traditions, pork is mostly not consumed in Indonesia. But dishes from any other meat and seafood are cooked here quite often. As for alcoholic drinks, they are practically not consumed in Indonesia. This is due to a religious prohibition.
However, such a ban does not apply throughout the country. Indonesia produces very tasty rice wine, as well as vodka called Palm Arak. Beer here is made from the sap of palm flowers.
