Israeli customs have traditionally been characterized by extremely thorough inspections of visitors. Given Israel's protracted military conflicts, this is a necessary measure.
1. What you can bring into Israel on an airplane:
- Personal items (clothes, shoes, hygiene items, and the like) in quantities sufficient for one person
- Cigarettes - not more than 200 pieces in one pack or 250 g of tobacco for each adult passenger (over 18 years of age)
- Perfume - not more than 250 ml per adult passenger
- Photographic and video cameras (except professional video cameras)
- Computers/laptops/tablets and other similar equipment for personal use
- Activity equipment, including a tent (no more than one per person), bicycle (no more than one per person, without a motor), and sports equipment (excluding scuba diving equipment)
- Musical instruments
- Prams, baby food (in quantities not exceeding reasonable limits)
- Jewelry for personal use
- Any goods not prohibited for import (it can be clothes, toys, electronics, etc.) in an amount not exceeding 200 USD
- Strong alcoholic beverages - not more than 1 liter per adult passenger (over 18 years old)
- Weak alcoholic beverages and wines - not more than 2 liters per adult passenger (over 18 years old)
2. What is forbidden to bring into Israel:
- Explosive, flammable, and poisonous substances
- Drugs and raw materials for their manufacture
- Firearms and gas weapons of all types
- Pneumatic weapons
- Cold weapons, knives, except pocket knives, knives for professional and sporting activities, cutlery
- Any goods and materials (printed or electronic media) used to incite violence and terrorism or that identify the owner as belonging to terrorist organizations
- False documents, certificates of conformity of goods, money, and the like
- Tickets and promotional materials of lotteries and other gambling games (without documents authorizing their preparation and conduct)
- Rare and dangerous animals, snakes
- Domestic animals under the age of four months
- Plant seeds (without authorization from the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture)
- Used packaging from plants and seeds, used beekeeping equipment
- Fighting dogs (including bull terriers)
3. What is prohibited to take out of Israel:
- Antique items made before 1700 are defined as handmade items that can only be exported from Israel with the written authorization of the Director of the Antiquities Authority. An additional export duty of 10% of the value of the item is payable.
4. How much alcohol can be imported into Israel:
- Strong alcoholic beverages - not more than 1 liter per adult passenger (over 18 years old)
- Mild alcoholic beverages and wines - not more than 2 liters per adult passenger (over 18 years old)
5. How much alcohol can be taken out of Israel:
- 2 liters of liquor per person
