To understand where Cortina d'Ampezzo is, we must look deep into the dolomite massifs of Toffane, Monte Cristallo and Monte Sorapis. It is there, in the sunny Ampezzo Valley, that the resort of interest is located.
The history of Cortina d'Ampezzo ski resort dates back to the XIX century. Since then it has been a leader in terms of popularity. Cortina d'Ampezzo was founded as a ski resort in 1944 when the Winter Olympics were to be held here, but were cancelled due to the outbreak of World War II.
In 1956, the city was lucky enough to become the capital of the White Olympics. Especially for this significant event, a modern ice stadium with four-tiered grandstands with a capacity of 12 thousand spectators was built there. In addition, the skiing, skiing and bobsleigh tracks were put in order. The new ski-jump in Cortina d'Ampezzo became one of the best, and the Italian know-how - a skating track on a floating ice floe at 1750 meters above sea level - enabled to set world records.
The official currency of Italy, as well as the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo is the Euro (EUR). It can be exchanged not only in local banks, but also in exchange offices.
