St. Peter's Church is another iconic structure of medieval Riga (incidentally, the tallest wooden building in all of Europe during the Middle Ages!). The tower has an observation deck that offers stunning views of Old Riga's rooftops, the Daugava River and narrow streets - tick off your map of Riga sights.
The House of Blackheads is a unique building from 1334 and a very interesting museum. The name of this Riga landmark is easy to explain - the Blackheads were called young foreign merchants who chose St. Mauritius as their patron saint. His symbol (the head of an arapist) is depicted on the coat of arms of the brotherhood.
