What are online verification and online check-in?
- Online verification (online check-in) is an identity verification process that requires you to submit a passport photo and signature, or submit a passport photo and face verification via camera.
- Online check-in is an online check-in process that takes place two days (and no later than 2 hours) before departure, after which the passenger receives a boarding pass.
If online pre-check-in is required, it must be done, otherwise it will not be possible to check-in online, which will result in a €55 check-in fee at the airport.
When can Ryanair require online verification?
Ryanair informs you in advance about the need for online verification, but sometimes verification is required just before online check-in. If you didn't buy a seat and check-in in advance, the online check-in needs to be completed between 24 and 2 hours before departure, so you'll have less than 24 hours to check in online.
How do I complete the online verification process?
To complete the process you need to have:
- Ryanair booking code,
- passport or government-issued ID,
- a device (phone, tablet or laptop) equipped with a camera.
If the verification is successful, you will be asked to change the email address on your booking so that Ryanair can contact you and provide you with important information about your booking.
There are two ways to complete the verification process:
- Standard verification — involves imaging a completed and signed customer verification form along with a passport photo or ID card that has a signature on it. Verification of the form with signatures can take up to 7 days. This service is free of charge.
- Quick Verification — verification using facial recognition technology provided by a GetID partner. Quick verification takes approximately two minutes, but you will need to pay €/£0.59 when using facial recognition technology.
