National Museum of History of Moldova

Victory Arch

The Triumphal Arch was erected in 1846 in honor of the victory in the Russo-Turkish War. It is a two-tiered 13-meter structure and part of the architectural ensemble of the Great National Assembly Square.

National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History

The oldest museum in the Republic of Moldova, opened in 1889. Its two main directions are the study of nature and culture of Bessarabia. There are many valuable, truly unique exhibits and an excellent scientific library.

Chisinau City Hall

Despite the fact that the original building was blown up in 1941, it was completely restored under the direction of the chief city architect Robert Kurtz. Now it is one of the main monuments of national importance.

The central square of the city with all the main events is the Great National Assembly Square. European Integration Square is a modern location with fountains and recreation areas. August 31, 1989 and Pushkin Street are ideal for walking and sightseeing. Connoisseurs of architecture should also take a stroll along Vasile Alexandri Street. Good cafes and stores can be found on the lively Izmaila Street.

Some of the unusual museums in Chisinau are the Honey Museum, the Fireman's Museum, the Electric Transport Museum and the Republican Pedagogical Museum. You can also visit:

  • The Church of Constantine and Helen is a temple of the Russian Orthodox Church and another of the oldest buildings.

  • Annunciation Church - a classic example of Moldovan churches of the late XVIII century.
  • Harlampievskaya Church is built in neoclassical style with spectacular pilasters and decorations.

Chisinau has as many as 19 parks, and the Chisinau municipality has all 23. And here are the best of them:

  • Stefan the Great Park - one of the oldest in Bessarabia, built back in 1818.
  • "Valya Trandafirilor" or "Valley of Roses" on the site of former rose plantations.

  • The cellars and halls of the winery "Cricova" are often compared to the labyrinths of ancient castles and fortresses.
  • The "Golden Collection" of wines of "Mileštije Mić" is the largest in Europe.
