Morocco Attractions

We have collected the main attractions of Morocco - symbols that are inextricably associated with this country.

Morocco's main attractions are concentrated in the historic centers of its cities. Most of them are hundreds of years old, and some are well over a thousand years old.

So, Morocco's architectural landmarks have been preserved since ancient times. They offer a glimpse into the world of the Orient with all its ornate luxury and beauty. You should take your time exploring the old cities to see what sights make up Morocco.

Some of Morocco's sights, such as the blue city of Chefchaouen, are world-famous. We've put together a list of Morocco's main attractions to help you find out what to see first in this fascinating country.

Bahia Palace in Marrakech, Morocco

Chefchaouen. This extraordinary city in northwestern Morocco is world-famous and a unique attraction in its own right. The houses of Chefchaouen are painted in all shades of blue. This is why it is called the Blue City.

Bahia Palace. One of the most modern palaces in Marrakech, Bahia was built in 1880 for one of the wives of Bou Ahmed Sidi Moussa's harem.

Mahkama du Pasha. This magnificent palace in Casablanca has sixty rooms and an amazing finish of wooden carvings, mosaics, and forging. However, this marvelous structure is not an ancient palace of the royal dynasty but a municipal building built between 1948 and 1952. Visiting hours are Monday through Saturday from 8:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00. Entry is possible only if accompanied by a guide.

Menard Gardens

The Bird Park in Agadir. In this shady zoo, you will find not only countless birds but also deer, llamas, gazelles, monkeys, and rams. Admission to the park is free, and you can visit every day from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 18:00. There is a children's playground in the park.

Menara Gardens. This public park in Marrakech was laid out back in the 12th century by Caliph Abd-al-Moumin. The park covers almost a hundred hectares and is filled with greenery of many species. It is free to enter every day from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Jem el-Fna Square. The central square of Marrakech turns into a true center of wild and untamed Moroccan life every night - with music, dancing, snake charmers, and torchlight shows. By day, you'll find plenty of souvenir shops and other stalls.

mosque, Casablanca, Morocco

The Kasbah of Agadir. From the ancient fortress, erected on the central hill of Agadir, nowadays only one fortress wall remains. However, it attracts tourists steadily, and even a grueling seven-kilometer climb up the hill does not frighten travelers. It can be tackled by grand cab, though.

Medina of Casablanca. The old city of Casablanca does not boast such colorful architecture as the ancient centers of Fez and Marrakech. But this city has a special flavor. You can also see a lot of graffiti here.

Arab League Park. This picturesque park in Casablanca was created in the 1920s and 30s by French designers. Here you can take a break from the omnipresent heat and enjoy the beauty of the trees and flowerbeds. The park is accessible daily, around the clock and free of charge.

El Badi Palace in Marrakech

Ait Benhaddou. A former caravanserai with a picturesque kasbah fortress invariably attracts travelers. The place is famous all over the world due to its regular appearance in various movies.

El-Badi Palace. One of the most colorful palaces of Marrakech, first rebuilt in the 16th century. This magnificent structure is a jewel of Moroccan architecture. You can visit it from 8:30 am to 5:45 pm. Entrance to the palace costs 10 and 20 MAD.

Medina of Marrakech. The old capital of Morocco is famous not only as the third largest city in the country but also as the richest in antiquities and magnificent examples of architecture. Many of Marrakech's old city sights are UNESCO heritage sites.

Tannery in Fez, Morocco

The medina of Fez. If Marrakech can tell you about the luxury of Morocco's rulers, then Fez will tell you in colors about the life of its inhabitants. It is in the medina of Fez that Morocco has the most picturesque souks and the most colorful festivals. Fez is Morocco's second former capital and a popular destination for travelers.

Habous Quarter. This quarter was rebuilt by the French in the first half of the 20th century. It represents an idealized Arab city, stripped of all the unpleasant features of the traditional medina while retaining its appearance.

Goats in the trees. The goat is known to be a very agile animal, but only in Morocco will you see just how much. The goats here, due to the lack of grass, graze not on the ground but on the branches of argania trees. It's a funny and slightly crazy spectacle worth the trip out of town for.
