Exploring Alvor
Exploring Alvor allows tourists to discover and acquaint themselves with the main areas of the resort town, as well as its historical and natural attractions. It's important to note that excursions in Portugal are primarily conducted in English, which serves as the language of international communication between tourists and staff.
Alternatively, tourists can organize their own excursions by taking a shuttle bus that runs regularly between Alvor and Portimao. For example, a bus tour of Alvor or both cities can be a great way to explore the coastal resort region in detail, with 35 stops along the route.
The Rio de Alvor National Reserve near Alvor provides an excellent opportunity for walking and bird-watching, particularly in the fall and spring when many rare species gather there. To minimize disturbance to the reserve's inhabitants, Rio de Alvor features a system of wooden bridges and paths. A small sand barrier protects the reserve's lagoon from the ocean, ensuring a peaceful and quiet environment.
