The region where Ružomberok is located is situated in the famous Dolní Liptov. This place is well known to tourists who have fallen in love with the snowy mountain slopes of the Low Tatras. The Big Fatra mountain range closes the valley from the other side, and the confluence of two rivers, the Vaga and Revuca, has created incredibly beautiful landscapes. Slovakia is a member state of the European Union and Slovakia's main currency, the Slovak krona, has been replaced by the ubiquitous euro.
The history of Ružmberok goes back centuries, with the City of Roses first mentioned in 1233. And although Ružomberok was founded even earlier, it did not receive the rights of a real town until 1318. The modern history of Ružomberok is closely connected with European labor movements, in the XIX century the town was the center of the Marxist movement. Today it is not only a tourist, but also an industrial center of Slovakia.
There are many historical sights and museums, about which you can read more in the corresponding section of our website. There are plenty of flowers to live up to the name, but, oddly enough, roses are not so easy to find here.
