Public transportation
Take Cape Town's public transportation to travel around South Africa's cultural capital. The GABS and MyCiTi buses run throughout the city, with the Golden Acre terminal on Grande Parade as their hub. The average cost of a trip around downtown Cape Town is ZAR 5-15.
On MyCiTi buses, payment is made via MyConnect card (23 ZAR), which can be topped up at any supermarket. Travel tip: Combine business with pleasure - take advantage of Cape Town's special excursions. The trip is on the City Sightseeing Cape Town route.
For visiting the suburbs, the best option is electric trains. For tourists, the Simon's Town Line, which skirts Table Mountain with the Observatory and takes in shopping-the Newlands, False Bay coastal areas, is of most interest. Economy class fares are ZAR 4.2-8.5, while first class fares are ZAR 5-14.
Routes
For evening and overnight trips, as well as self-drive routes, use taxis. Prices are more than reasonable (averaging ZAR 10 per kilometer), and it's possible to book a car to different parts of the city online.
Tip for tourists on transportation in Cape Town: Study the timetables of trains and buses carefully. There are few buses and trains in the city that run after 18:00.
