Benalmadena itself does not have an airport. But that's not a problem for tourists. The resort is only 20km from Málaga. And getting to Málaga airport is easy.
Malaga airport is called Costa del Sol. Its other name is Pablo Ruiz Picasso Airport. This name is due to the fact that the second terminal of Costa del Sol Airport, which opened in 1991, is named after the great artist. In general, the scheme of the airport of Málaga has three terminals. The oldest of them, built back in the 60s of the last century, is now not used. The third terminal was commissioned in 2010.
Now Malaga airport serves up to 20 million passengers a year. It is Spain's fourth busiest airport.
Terminals T2 and T3 provide services to passengers, while T1 houses the lost and found items department and the first aid station. In addition to traditional services (ATMs, restaurants and cafes, stores and duty free, parking, car rental), the airport museum is open for tourists in T3. The airport has three VIP lounges (El Rompedizo in T3, Europa and Costa del Sol in T2).
