Zurich's public transportation
Zurich's transportation system includes S-Bahn trains, buses, trolleybuses, streetcars, funiculars, and cabs. Public transportation in Zurich runs from 5 am to midnight (then comes the time of night buses - from 24:00 to 4:00). City transportation
26 S-Bahn commuter train lines (which run underground in central Zurich) intersect at the Hauptbahnhof (see the site for a schedule). The most popular means of public transportation in Zurich are streetcars (13 lines). They provide quick and comfortable access to any part of the city (streetcars run on a regular schedule).
Bus service (27 routes) connects downtown to the suburbs. The Routes of the night buses (starting at Belleview) are different from the day buses. You can recognize the night buses by the letter N in front of the number - they run once an hour, and tickets (CHF 5) are purchased from the driver.

Prices vary depending on the type of ticket and fare zones. You can buy tickets from special machines in the parking lots. Options include the Single Pass (one trip - CHF 4.20 for adults and CHF 2.90 for children), Tageskarte (round trip for 24 hours - CHF 8.40 and CHF 5.80), Tageswahlkarte (6-day pass - CHF 45.20), and more.
Our advice to tourists
To save money on Zurich transportation, buy the Zurich Card. In addition to unlimited transportation, the card entitles you to free admission to 40 museums, an observation deck at the airport, discounts on admission to the zoo and parks. A 24-hour card costs CHF 24 for adults and CHF 16 for kids, while 72-hour cards cost CHF 48 and CHF 32 respectively.
