We suggest starting our all-inclusive Zurich sightseeing itinerary at the main station, Hauptbahnhof. It's from there that the main street, Bahnhofstrasse, is one of the most respectable in Europe, with its masses of expensive boutiques like Louis Vuitton or Chanel and Swiss bank offices.
Transport is almost non-existent here - only city streetcars and special-purpose vehicles. If you have time, divert from Bahnhofstrasse to Pestalozzi Park - next door is the Globus shopping center, where you can briefly interrupt your Zurich walking route in the basement to buy tasty souvenirs like cheese and wine for friends.
We're continuing our Zurich walking itinerary - next up is St. Peter's Cathedral (you can reach it by turning off Bahnhofstrasse into the Old Town). Took a couple shots of Europe's largest dial? Then walk past the cathedral and up Lindenhof, a hill that offers a great view of the city.
By the way, locals say this is where the first Roman roadblock was established to control goods being transported through Limmat. It was from this roadblock that modern Zurich grew.
Finish your Zurich tourist itinerary by descending from Lindenhof to Weinplatz, a small square with a bridge over the river. You'll easily recognize the square by the facade of the Storchen Hotel - it's decorated with storks. From Weinplatz you can see the massive Rathausbrücke bridge and the Rathaus city hall - a very "Zurich" landscape!
