The coastline of Ko Lan is the main attraction of the resort. Most tourists come to the island primarily for the serene relaxation on the soft white sand, crystal clear sea, gentle sun and silence. On the beaches of Ko Lan rest and those who stay on the island, and tourists from Pattaya. Several ferries arrive at the resort every morning.
Ko Lan's most popular beaches
The sections of Ko Lan coastline that are especially loved by tourists are characterized by well-developed infrastructure, as well as convenient transportation. You can walk or take a vehicle from the main pier.
Samae
Samae Beach is the western beach of the island. It is located on the side opposite Pattaya. The coastline is 600 meters long and 20 to 110 meters wide (depending on the phase of the tide). The beach is easy to identify, thanks to the solar power generator building nearby.

Tawaen
Tawaen Beach (Ta Waen, Tawaen Beach, Hat Ta Waen) is located on the northwest side of the island. It boasts the largest dimensions: the beach is 150 meters wide and 700 meters long. Here usually rests the most tourists. Especially fond of the coast natives from neighboring Asian countries. There are few European visitors to Tawaen.
Infrastructure
Besides the main Ko Lan pier, ferries from Pattaya (30 TNV) can also dock at Tawaen Beach. There are no hotels here, but there's plenty to keep yourself busy throughout the day:
- points for renting jet skis, bananas, and sports equipment;
- Umbrella and sun lounger rentals;
- massage parlor;
- bars and restaurants;
- pharmacy;
- supermarkets and stores;
- Fresh water showers and restrooms.
How to get here
From the main Ko Lan pier and neighboring beaches, you can get here by tuk-tuk, motorcycle or taxi-car (150 to 300 THB). The journey will take between 5 and 10 minutes.
Tien
Tien Beach is one of the least crowded stretches of Koh Lana coastline. It is located between Samae and Tawaen. It is 400 meters long and 10 to 100 meters wide.
Characteristics of Tien Beach
Tien is always a little crowded. But the coastline offers everything you need for a great vacation:
- restaurants, bars, and cafes;
- jet ski and banana boat rentals;
- Massage parlor;
- lounger and umbrella rentals.
The only downside to the beach is that there is no accommodation on the beach. The nearest hotels are on Samaya or Tawaen Beach.
How to get there
Take a tuk-tuk or motorcycle from Ko Lan's central pier to Tien Beach for 150 THB. The journey will take no more than 10 minutes.
Tonglang
Tonglang Beach is located near Tawaen Beach on the northwest side of Ko Lan Island. It is also known as Hat Thong Lang. The length of the beach is about 200 meters and the width ranges from 10 to 50 meters.
Characteristics of Thonglang Beach
Tonglang Beach has a minimal amount of infrastructure: only renting umbrellas and sunbeds. There are no restaurants, bars on the coast.
Tonglang Beach is home to the only Lomtalay Tawaen Beach hotel.
The shallow entry to the water and lack of rocks on the bottom will surely appeal to families with children.
How to get there
Tonglang can be reached from Ko Lan's main pier by tuk-tuk or motorcycle for 150 THB. The journey will take about 10 minutes.
The little-known beaches of Ko Lan
There are six stretches of coastline on the island that have no clear boundaries. You can reach them on foot from neighboring beaches, having first driven up a bit from the pier by tuk-tuk.
Monkey Beach
Monkey Beach is also called Naul or Nuan. It is located on the south side of the island. It is always a little crowded, especially in the low season.
The beach is 350 meters long and 80 meters wide at high tide.
Characteristics of Monkey Beach
In the low season, the coast is devoid of any kind of infrastructure. In the high season, the beach has umbrella rentals, sunbeds and a single restaurant.
The branches of exotic palm trees are always full of monkeys, which can cause some discomfort during the vacation.
Sangwan
The Sangwan coastline neighbors Tawaen Beach in the northwest of Ko Lan. It is also known as Hat Sang Wan. The sand here is mixed with fairly large stones, the coast is 200 meters long and about 100 meters wide.
Even in high season there are no vacationers on Sang Wan. The main reason for this is the compulsory fee of 100 THB for renting a sun lounger.
The only hotel on the beach is Sangwan Beach Resort.
Tarai
The stony beach of Tarai is located in the eastern part of Lan Island.
The beach has several statues of animals and mythical characters, as well as a children's playground. But you should only wear special shoes when walking along the beach to protect yourself from stepping on rocks and sea urchins.

Taiai (Hat Khong, Daeng) is a 400 meter long sandy coastline in the north of the island with all the necessary infrastructure;
Hua Khat (Hua Khat) - a sandy secluded beach with a rocky entrance to the water in the north of the island without the benefits of civilization.
