Koh Lana Transportation

We'll cover the main modes of public transportation on Ko Lan Island: types, fares, and more.

Koh Lan public transportation

Songteo

This is a covered pickup truck with two benches for passengers. It is the safest mode of transportation for traveling on Ko Lan.

  • Songteo stops are located near Naban Pier and Tawaen Beach.

  • The fare is 40 THB from Tawaen to Naban; to get to either beach is 50 THB.

An empty boat to the island of Co Larne.

Mototaxi

Considering the quality of the road surface, a cab ride can be riskier than a Songteo.

  • Motototaxi stands can also be found at Naban Pier and Taewan Pier.

  • Fare:

    • - Naban to Tawaen - 40 THB;

    • - Naban - Samaye, Naul, Tien - 50 TNV;

    • - Naban - other beaches - 40 THB;

    • - Tawaen to Naban - 40 TNV;

    • - Tawaen - Tonglang - 40 TNV (but it's quite feasible to walk to this beach);

    • - Tawaen to other beaches - 50 THNV.

Thailand rentals

Renting a motorbike

If you have experience driving a motorcycle, you can rent a bike and get around the island on your own.

  • Motobike rental shops are available in Naban, and most have signs. On Tawaen beach, you can rent a motorcycle from motorcycle taxi drivers. There are no rentals on other beaches.

  • Rentals in Naban cost from 250 THB for a day, rentals from motorcycle taxi drivers in Tawaen from 300 THB for a day, 200 THB for half a day.

Roads on Ko Lan

The roads on Ko Lan are hard to call good. They are not unpaved, but there is no asphalt pavement on the island either. For the most part, the roads are paved with bricks, but in many places there are potholes because the bricks have fallen off. So driving around the island should be done carefully.
