Beach vacations on Ko Lanta

In this article we will tell you about the most popular beaches on Lanta Island: how to get there, prices for services, entertainment and much more.

The wide and clean beaches of Koh Lanta will not leave any tourist indifferent. In fact, the whole island is an ideal place for a beach vacation. However, at low tide some beaches become very shallow and you have to walk quite far to swim. You won't find water attractions on Ko Lanta either, as the island is part of a National Reserve.

When is the best time to go to Ko Lanta

The best time to go to Lanta is from December to March, during these months the sunny days are at their maximum and the temperatures are optimal.

April and May are the dry season in Thailand, while from June to November the weather can be cloudy and rainy.

Island beach vacations

Picking a place is very important, you need to determine what you expect from your vacation in the first place.

  • The beaches occupy the entire West Coast, this is the area for tourists.
  • In the northern part of Lanta, closer to Saladan Pier, they are more crowded, infrastructure is good and affordable accommodation can be found.
  • In the south you will find secluded beaches, they are built up with luxury hotel complexes. All the infrastructure belongs to the hotels, it is very quiet in the evenings, but the nature is clean and unspoiled.
  • The east coast is home to Thai villages, schools and temples, as well as the island's capital, Lanta Old Town.

Popular beaches on Lanta Island

Klong Dao

The wide, clean beach, although considered the most popular, is quite crowded even in high season. The water here is not as clear as other beaches due to the proximity of the jetty. However, it is many times cleaner than in Pattaya.

The sea and the beach

The beach is 3 kilometers long. It is covered with fine white sand and grass grows in some places. The sea, like the rest of the coastline, is tidal. The entrance to the water is quite smooth.

Klong Dao has sun loungers and umbrellas for rent.

Infrastructure

Thanks to its location near the pier, the beach is considered the most crowded and the infrastructure is excellent.

  • There are plenty of bars, cafes, massage pavilions, stores, and motorcycle rentals.
  • Also the "specialty" of Klong Dao are the fire shows.
  • Guesthouses and hostels in Klong Dao offer budget accommodation options.

Ko Kwang

The northernmost beach on Ko Lanta. It is equidistant from Klong Dao and Saladan Pier, a 15-minute walk.

The sea and the beach

The northern end of the beach is divided by a road into two parts.
