The wide and clean beaches of Koh Lanta will not leave any tourist indifferent. In fact, the whole island is an ideal place for a beach vacation. However, at low tide some beaches become very shallow and you have to walk quite far to swim. You won't find water attractions on Ko Lanta either, as the island is part of a National Reserve.
When is the best time to go to Ko Lanta
The best time to go to Lanta is fromDecember to March, during these months the sunny days are at their maximum and the temperatures are optimal.
April and May are the dry season in Thailand, while from June to November the weather can be cloudy and rainy.
Island beach vacations
Picking a place is very important, you need to determine what you expect from your vacation in the first place.
The beaches occupy the entire West Coast, this is the area for tourists.
In the northern part of Lanta, closer to Saladan Pier, they are more crowded, infrastructure is good and affordable accommodation can be found.
In the south you will find secluded beaches, they are built up with luxury hotel complexes. All the infrastructure belongs to the hotels, it is very quiet in the evenings, but the nature is clean and unspoiled.
The east coast is home to Thai villages, schools and temples, as well as the island's capital, Lanta Old Town.

Klong Dao
The wide, clean beach, although considered the most popular, is quite crowded even in high season. The water here is not as clear as other beaches due to the proximity of the jetty. However, it is many times cleaner than in Pattaya.

The beach is 3 kilometers long. It is covered with fine white sand and grass grows in some places. The sea, like the rest of the coastline, is tidal. The entrance to the water is quite smooth.
Klong Dao has sun loungers and umbrellas for rent.
Infrastructure
Thanks to its location near the pier, the beach is considered the most crowded and the infrastructure is excellent.
There are plenty of bars, cafes, massage pavilions, stores, and motorcycle rentals.
Also the "specialty" of Klong Dao are the fire shows.

How to get there
From Saladan Pier, where ferries arrive, it's a 10-minute walk to Klong Dao.
Long Beach
The longest beach on the island, it stretches along the coast for 5 kilometers. Long Beach is located just north of Saladan Pier and can be reached by tuk-tuk in 10 minutes.

In some places, the beach is 5 to 7 meters wide, but in most areas, it ranges from 15 to 30 meters. There are also areas on Long Beach that are covered with grass. The sea is very clear, and the entrance to the water is smooth.
Infrastructure
Not as well developed as in Klong Dao, but here you will find all the necessary entertainment. Long Beach has:
Bars, restaurants, massage pavilions.
The beach is mostly built up with luxury hotel complexes.
The most infrastructure is concentrated in the south of Long Beach, where the village of Pra Aye is located. There's even a stadium, a medical center, a Thai boxing school, and an elephant farm.
The main feature of Long Beach is the park in the central part of the beach. It is a great place for family vacations. The park features:

How to get there
For those arriving at Saladan Pier, the most convenient way to get there is by tuk-tuk.
If you are brought to the cargo pier, a mini-bus will take you to the center of Klong Dao, where all the tour operator offices are located. There's a tuk-tuk parking lot there.
Klong Khong
The beach is a 20-25 minute drive from Saladan Pier, closer to the center of Koh Lanta's west coast. Different sections of Klong Khong can have different numbers of vacationers, it all depends on the proximity of hotels and seasonality. This beach is also great for family vacations.

The beach is 3 kilometers long. It is covered with soft white sand, and there is also a lot of greenery. But at low tide, swimming at Klong Khong is not very comfortable as the rocks at the bottom are exposed.
There are umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach.

Infrastructure
Not far from the beach is the village of Klong Khong, after which the beach was named. It has all the amenities of civilization - bars, hotels, stores, travel agencies, ATMs, and internet cafes.
On the beach itself, there are many bars and restaurants, where you will find a wide choice of Thai cuisine, and in the evenings, they organize fire shows and discos.
Near the beach, there's a highway leading to Lanta Old Town, the island's capital.
How to get there
If you arrive on Lanta by passenger ferry to Saladan, the easiest way is to take a tuk-tuk from the pier.
The cargo ferry will take you to the center of Klong Dao, and you can transfer to a tuk-tuk there. Their parking lot is right in the center, next to the tourist offices.
Klong Ning
Central beach on the west coast of Lanta. Travel time from Saladan Pier to Klong Nin is about 30-35 minutes. The beach itself is very long, and unevenly populated. In places where there are hotels, there are cafes, stores, and umbrellas with sunbeds on the beach. Where there is no accommodation, the beach remains deserted.

The beach is very wide, the sand is white and fine. The bottom is gentle, so the sea is perfect for children's games. The water is clean and clear. Near the beach there are many trees.
Infrastructure
On the beach there are bars and restaurants, a large selection of hotels and guesthouses, massage parlors. In the village of Klong Nin itself you'll also find pharmacies, ATMs, internet cafes, and everything else you might need for an extended stay on the island.
At the southern end of Klong Ning is the Elephant Trail, here you can ride an elephant through the jungle.
Also nearby is the road leading to the capital, Lanta Old Town. It has restaurants with vantage points that offer great views of the island.
How to get there
From Passenger Pier Saladan, you can take a tuk-tuk cab to Klong Ning Beach. It is also possible to rent a motorcycle in Klong Dao. The main thing is to follow the signs and not to take the right turn where the highway passes close to the beach, otherwise you will go to the east of Ko Lanta.
Ko Kwang
The northernmost beach on Ko Lanta. It is equidistant from Klong Dao and Saladan Pier, a 15-minute walk.

The northern end of the beach is divided by a road into two parts.
South Koh Kwang is wide, with grass and trees growing on the sand. There is no clear boundary between it and Klong Dao.
North beach is rocky, and the trees there grow right into the sea. The unusual thing is that at high tide you can swim among the treetops.
Infrastructure
There are very few vacationers on Ko Kwang, so there are almost no entertainment venues. The only exceptions are the hotel bars. And after sunset it's very quiet. But for nightlife lovers, there's nearby Klong Dao, 15 minutes away and you're in the heart of the party.
How to get there
If you arrived at Saladan Pier by passenger boat, you can walk to Koh Kwang or take a tuk-tuk cab.
If you are traveling from the cargo port, Ko Kwang is halfway to Klong Dao, ask the cab driver to stop at the right place.
