Samui is one of the most popular resorts in Thailand today. Not surprisingly, it provides plenty of activities for vacationers, including nightlife.
Nightlife on Samui
Virtually all of Samui's nightclubs are located on or near the beaches.
The majority of establishments are conditionally free. In order to join in the general fun, you need to order a cocktail from 100 THB. Hookahs cost from 350 THB.
Come to nightclubs should be after 23:00. You can party until at least 3:00, and some clubs don't close until 6:00.
Nighttime entertainment for partygoers
Chaweng Beach
Samui's nightlife is almost entirely centered on Chaweng Beach. The combination of ethnic cuisine, fiery dancing, strong drinks, and a great vibe will satisfy even the most sophisticated party-goers. Most of the moonlit establishments are located on Soi Green Mango and Soi Reggae.
Nightclubs
For those tourists who want to party and dance until at least 3 am, the following places will do the trick:
Open bars (full-open parties) at Green Mango Square. One club flows seamlessly into the next, and each one is different in its musical direction;
Sound is good for those who prefer hip-hop and R'n'B style;
Green Mango. The club captivates with its original interior design: there's a huge tree in the center of the building, and the lighting is exclusively in green tones;
Soi Reggae is an internationally renowned Samui Island institution. It exclusively plays reggae hits in stunning arrangements;
Sweet Soul Cafe is a hip-hop nightclub. Its highlight is a special machine that releases artificial snowflakes onto the hyped-up crowd as they dance along;
Mint Bar is a club with a unique author's concept. The owners regularly invite famous DJs, so you can dance and relax on cozy sofas.
Cabaret performances
Sitting back in a comfy chair and drinking to an original performance is highly recommended at a cabaret. Here, guests can expect colorful costumes, provocative make-up, and plenty of glitz combined with traditional dances of Thailand and other countries. The most popular cabaret shows on Chaweng are the following performances:
Christy's Cabaret. Three performances are given daily between 18:00 and 02:00;
Starz. The most famous transgender show on the island of Koh Samui;
Charlie's Angels, performing in a separate hall under the roof of Soi Sound;
Moulin Rouge, a performance by transvestites and drag queens parodying the Moulin Rouge show.
Restaurants on Chaweng
Samui, like other resorts in the Kingdom of Thailand, boasts delicious national and international cuisine. You can try original dishes at such establishments:
Bondi Aussie Bar and Grill is an original Australian bar. Not only can you enjoy a juicy steak, but you can also watch sports on a gorgeous screen;
Tropical Murphy's -a traditional Irish pub with appropriate booze and appetizers;
Springer Pub. The establishment is loft-style and located in a converted garage;
D'jouns a restaurant with the best hookah on Samui.
Lamai Beach
Lamai ranks second in terms of nightlife saturation on Koh Samui. There are plenty of spectacular shows, restaurants with delicious and hearty cuisine, and nightclubs and go-go clubs with rousing music and lazy dancing.
Nightclubs and pubs
The following establishments are considered the most popular among those who appreciate good alcohol and dancing until morning:
Fusion is a high-tech nightclub;
Sub Club is a disco with techno and house music;
Smooth welcomes visitors with author music and live cocktails;
Outback Bar is an Australian bar with meaty appetizers and craft beer;
Shamrock a drinking establishment with rowdy, fun-loving crowds and loud music.
Lamai Fire Show
Fire shows are a trademark of Lamai Beach. Such performances have become the most loved by the public:
Swing Bar, where you can watch the show by swinging on real swings instead of traditional chairs;
The Rock Bar has its own access to the water;
The Chill In Bar - shows are available for viewing a few feet from the water, on comfortable pouffes and hammocks.
Thai Boxing
Lamai, unlike other beaches, can delight its guests with energetic Thai boxing. You can see it in the following arenas:
Lamai Stadium is the central stadium where the show starts from 8:30pm;
Fusion Night Club. Both men and women participate in fights here.
Bophut Beach
Bophut is ideal for families and is virtually devoid of places to party after 11pm. A few pubs are the exception:
Gecko Hill Bar is a bar with a Bali-inspired interior;
The Frog and Gecko is an Italian institution in the heart of Thailand;
Bob Marley is a bar for reggae music lovers;
Emerald Irish Pub. Here you'll be treated to delicious beer with appetizers served like Ireland itself.
Maenam Beach
Maenam Beach, the northernmost point of Koh Samui, is not the most extreme in terms of nightlife. There's no rampant clubbing, but the restaurants and bars are always welcoming. The following places are definitely worth checking out:
Rim Talay is a bar located right on the coast;
Paradise Beach Resort Pool Bar is a relaxed cafe with access to the sea;
Sunset. The cozy atmosphere and live music are perfect for couples in love;
Napasai Pool Bar offers a snack of dozens of national dishes during the day and author's cocktails in the evening;
Lazy Coconut or the bar of three friends. Billiards connoisseurs should come here.
Beyond the Big Buddha
The places near Samui's local landmark, the Big Buddha, deserve special attention. There's no unbridled revelry here, but there are plenty of excellent restaurants.
Heart & Soul is one of the island's best bars;
Big Buddha Cafe (BBC). This cafe offers both a quick lunch during the day and a relaxed evening;
Dreamers. The bar recently turned only a year old, but it already has a sincere following;
Sibelius a restaurant with screens for watching sports, as well as pool tables;
Secret Garden Festival. Enjoy watching sports in the evening and dancing and music at night.
The Koh Samui parties will not leave indifferent the guests of the island, who belong to the category of party people. But they're not as wild as the Full moon party in Pangan, which attracts almost all the youth of Thailand and the world.
