One of the most important episodes in Atlanta's life was the Civil War, during which the city was virtually destroyed. You can learn about this time by visiting the Civil War Museum or the Atlanta History Center, which exhibits the history of the city from its founding to the present day.
Don't miss the Centennial Park area, where you'll find the World of Coca-Cola Museum (where you'll learn all the secrets of producing the much-loved drink), the world's largest aquarium Georgia Aquarium, where visitors are offered to swim with sharks, and the popular CNN studio, where anyone can get a guided tour.
Families with children are recommended to visit the zoo (there are 7 pandas at once!), and also look at the Museum of Natural History to surprise the kids with giant dinosaur skeletons. You can have fun at Six Flags White Water Atlanta (there you will find water rides for guests of all ages and a huge pool with a wave inflation system) or at the amusement park Six Flags Over Georgia, the main highlight of which are 14 "roller coasters" of different levels of extremity.
The best views of Atlanta are from the top of the Westin Peachtree or from the observation deck of the Hyatt Regency.
