Chicago Walking Routes

Take a stroll through downtown Chicago and be sure to check out the Ukrainian Village.

The first thing we recommend doing is exploring the city center. You should start your walking tour of Chicago at the two famous skyscrapers, Willis and Hancock, by climbing to the viewing platform of either of them. Then there's the water tower, Michigan Avenue, State Street, the Mercantile Exchange, the Miro and Picasso sculptures, and many other sights.

Pay attention to the tourist route through Chicago that passes by Millennium Park. We recommend starting your walk from the modernist Pritzker Pavilion and the famous “Cloud Gate” sculpture, also known as “The Bean.” Next, you can visit either the Field Museum of Natural History (entry — 23 USD for children and 30 USD for adults), the Shedd Aquarium (entry — from 40 USD), or the Adler Planetarium (entry — 25 USD). If you go to Millennium Park in the evening, stay a few minutes near the Buckingham Fountain — you’ll enjoy an unforgettable light show.

One of the most popular walking routes in Chicago is the Navy Pier. Here, you can enjoy rides, water slides, art exhibitions, air shows, and shop for souvenirs.

The cost of a ride is 5–10 USD, and a boat tour starts from 30 USD. We don’t recommend hiring a guide — their services cost about 100 USD. With a city map, you’ll easily find your way around on your own.

Another interesting walking route in Chicago is through the Ukrainian Village, a neighborhood settled by Ukrainian immigrants as early as the late 19th century. It’s full of colorful buildings, beautiful churches, and cozy Ukrainian restaurants.
