Public transportation in Austria is quite well developed. As a rule, in all cities it is represented by buses and streetcars, less often by trolleybuses. Metropolitan public transportation consists not only of buses and streetcars, but also of subways and suburban trains.

If you buy a ticket for public transportation in Vienna, you can use it on the subway, bus, streetcar and train, but only within the city limits. If you prefer to travel in the metro in Austria, there are no turnstiles. Controllers are rare, but you should not ride without a ticket, as the fine for this is 60 EUR.
