The oldest districts, as well as the districts in the center of Vienna, are of the greatest interest to visitors. When looking at a map of the capital, pay special attention to the first district, the Inner City (the city's tourist center), Leopoldstadt (the main attraction is Vienna's Prater Park), Wieden (numerous palaces), Mariahilfe and Neubau (a shopaholic's paradise).
It should be noted that almost every district has its own interesting places. For example, there are many hotel complexes within districts 1-10 (check out the Vienna hotel map), while district 21 is the place to visit the large SCN shopping center, and district 13 is home to Schönbrunn Castle and the Linzer Tiergarten.

When it comes to dangerous neighborhoods in Vienna, Sudbahnhof train station, Karlsplatz and Gurtel are the most frequently mentioned. While it's safe during the day, it's advisable not to walk alone, especially for women, during the hours of darkness.
