The rainy season in Nassau lasts from May through October. This usually does not scare many people, although even hurricanes can occur here during this time. At the same time, the bulk of tourists vacation here during the dry period, from December to April, but there are also visitors in the summer. When the rainy season begins in Nassau, showers can last for hours. Bring raincoats and umbrellas!
In winter, temperatures on the islands range from +20°C to +28°C, while in summer they do not exceed +32°C. Even at the height of the rainy season there are chances to catch sunny days and take advantage of them. In winter, however, there is almost no rain, and even cloudiness is rare.
Beauty and wildlifeNassau
Nassau's vegetation is made up of coconut palms, which abound along the coast. There are many evergreen shrubs, including flowering shrubs. But the Royal Victoria Garden Botanical Gardens (south of the city) has a fine collection of tropical plants, flowers, even the rarest and most magnificent orchids.
Nassau's animal life is not very diverse, due to the dense population of New Providence Island. The marine life, however, is quite extensive. Those who dive can encounter many species of fish. Experts warn about sea urchins, which abound on the bottom near some beaches. This is worth keeping in mind. On the shore you can meet iguanas, bats and a variety of migratory birds, which do not stay here for long. One of the archipelago's islands, Inagua, is home to many flamingos, but you're unlikely to see them near Nassau.
