Cambodian Customs

Cambodia's basic customs regulations.

Cambodia is quite loyal to visitors in terms of customs restrictions.

When traveling to Cambodia, you can bring practically everything except for obviously prohibited items. For instance, you're allowed to bring in and take out foreign currency up to the equivalent of 10,000 USD. Exporting larger amounts requires authorization from the National Bank of Cambodia, but the export of national currency is prohibited. Duty-free importation of items within the limits of personal needs is allowed.

How much alcohol can you bring into Cambodia? You can transport any amount, although it may not be necessary since the local alcohol is good and affordable. The amount of alcohol you can take out of Cambodia depends on the country you are entering.

Strictly prohibited for export from Cambodia are antiques or Buddhist relics due to temple robberies. However, you can bring home statues of Buddha and trinkets purchased in souvenir shops. It is strictly forbidden to export national treasures, precious metals and stones in commercial quantities, and wild animals.

Items like weapons, ammunition, drugs, poisonous substances, and audio and video recordings that undermine the state system and the country's spiritual traditions are among the prohibited items when entering Cambodia.
