There are 19 regions in Finland, which roughly coincide with the historical regions of the country. These regions have developed over the centuries. Finland is stretched from south to north, so you can distinguish between southern and northern regions.

The region of Ostrobothnia (Pohjanmaa) stretches along the Gulf of Bothnia along the western coast of Finland. Until 2010, all of these areas were part of the province of Western Finland.

Southern Ostrobothia (Seinäjoki) is located in the western part of Finland. The population is approximately 194,000 people, more than a third of whom live in the administrative center, Seinäjoki, which is also the largest of the 18 municipalities of South Ostrobothnia.
