Dubrovnik Airport serves the southern coast of Croatia and the northern cities of Montenegro. It is sometimes called "Cilipi Airport", after the name of the village near the terminal.
Dubrovnik Airport has had a troubled history. It was originally built in 1962, and already in 1987 it carried a record 1.5 million passengers. But in the course of hostilities it was closed in the 90s. It was not until 2000 that Chilipi Airport opened its doors to its first passengers.
