General information about Meribel

To understand where Meribel is, you need to look into the "heart of the three valleys" located in the Alps. This enchanting area mesmerizes with its sophistication and art of winning the hearts of vacationers.

In general, the resort consists of three villages, namely Meribel directly, located at 1450 meters above sea level, Meribel-Mottare with an altitude of 1750 meters above sea level and Meribel-Altiport, which rises the highest, at 1700 meters above sea level.

The history of Meribel dates back 50 years. Today the resort can offer all vacationers about 150 km of marked and groomed pistes, while leaving a large area of untouched snow for lovers of virgin snow. In addition to the delightful nature, the town is surrounded by a unique architectural style in which wild stone and light-colored wood are appropriately combined.

The construction of the first ski piste began thanks to British Colonel Peter Lindsay, who recognized the high potential of the area as early as 1938. This date is still considered to be the time of Meribel's foundation. The colonel's family still profits from the resort to this day. The ski resort gained universal fame and popularity after the 1992 Winter Olympics were held here.
