We recommend setting aside a day for a leisurely stroll through the narrow cobbled streets of the old town, built around the Genoese Fortress, one of the main attractions of Porto Vecchio. Erected in the mid-16th century, it has been perfectly preserved to this day and can therefore serve as a wonderful backdrop for your vacation photos.
Inside the fortress are some of the island's most interesting sites. Here, for example, you can see the citadel with its two surviving bastions, the Church of St. John the Baptist and the Chapel of the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross. To appreciate the citadel in all its splendor, we recommend going down to the harbor, where you can get the best view of it.
By the way, movie buffs and people interested in the history of the arts will also have something to do in the city. On the Porto Vecchio sightseeing map, you'll find a small but very entertaining site - the Corsican Cinematica. Here, anyone can immerse themselves in the world of good old-fashioned film and watch something from the rather extensive archive of local film creations in a small screening room.
