Saint-Malo is one of the most popular resorts in Brittany. It is known for its powerful tides, during which the coastal forts are connected to the land and then back to the islands.
The beaches of Saint-Malo are also notable, the best of which are La Grande Plage, located three kilometers from the city walls, and Bon Secours, where there is a sailing school. Fans of outdoor activities can rent a boat or yacht, go fishing and even learn to sail. Water sports such as windsurfing and water skiing are also popular. You can also improve your health with thalassotherapy methods, for example, in the famous center Les Thermes Marins de Saint-Malo.
The old town of Saint-Malo is located on an island, during high tides the water comes up to the fortress walls. Almost all the buildings here suffered from bombing during World War II and have been rebuilt. A few wooden buildings have survived: the Recole Arch on Vieux Rampart Street and house No. 5 on Pelico Street. Visit the Solidor Tower, built in the XIV century for defense purposes and during the French Revolution it served as a prison. Today it houses the Maritime Museum.
