Dublin is located in the eastern part of Ireland on the banks of the River Liffey. Dublin is surrounded by mountain ranges to the south and plains to the west. It is also crossed by two canals - the Royal and the Grand Canal. Along the coast, the Irish capital stretches for 35 km, but the total area of the city is only 115 km. This does not prevent it not only to delight curious tourists, but also to have the status of an independent administrative unit - a county.
Dublin has a population of over 1 million people. Residents love their city and are proud of it: a few years ago Dublin was included in the list of 50 cities with the highest standard of living and ecology. It is no secret that the capital of Ireland is one of the richest and most expensive in the world.
Interestingly, since Dublin was founded in 841 by the Vikings, its path to prosperity has been very thorny. Only in the early XX century the Irish managed to finally free themselves from the oppression of British colonizers and get the right to independent existence. Dublin began to prosper actively with the onset of the XXI century. Today it is a very distinctive and colorful city, where travelers from all over the world flock.
