The bright sun that shines on the coast all year round ensures a relatively high temperature in the Mediterranean Sea. It is possible to swim from the beginning of May until the end of October. In May, the water temperature reaches between +18-20°C.
The temperature of the Mediterranean Sea during the summer is +24-25 ° C and stays at this temperature during the whole beginning of the velvet season (in September). In October, the temperature of the Mediterranean gradually drops to 22-21°С. December is marked by cooling, so the coastal waters cool down to 18-17 ° C. Throughout the winter, the water temperature stays between +15-14°С.
Forio has unique hot springs - fumaroles, which gush directly into the sea. The hot water rises from the seabed and reaches temperatures of up to 90°C.
