Gallipoli's beaches

What would a resort be without beautiful white-sand beaches where you can spend most of your vacation? The Italian coast delights travelers: Gallipoli offers several beaches, so you'll have plenty of options. Those who have already visited say the best beaches are on the southern coast.

Let’s take a closer look and decide which beach to choose in Gallipoli. For example, the most famous city beach is Riviera Sauro. It’s a small but cozy stretch of coastline with a gentle slope into the water. Its main drawback is its popularity, especially in July and August. During this period, tourists are advised to go to Baia Verde. This beach is located 3 km from the city. The name translates to “Green Bay,” and the coastline resembles the Caribbean.

Just beyond Baia Verde lies another beach — or rather, a whole series of beaches forming a long stretch of white sand. The nearby Punta Suina beach is especially popular among global celebrities.

Travelers who prefer a more rustic experience will appreciate the unserviced and less crowded beaches, such as Torre Pizzo. The only downside is its distance from central Gallipoli: the beach is located 12 km from the city.

Those who enjoy a more comfortable stay should head closer to Punta Pizzo. This area has well-equipped paid beaches with turquoise waters and stunning views of the historic city. One such place is Lido Pizzo.

The northern part of the resort also has great beaches: Rivabella, Padula Bianca, and Lido di Conchiglie. This is not a complete list of excellent places to relax by the sea. If proximity to Gallipoli is not a priority and you’re traveling by car or other transport, you’ll find many more wonderful white-sand beaches with crystal-clear water in the surrounding area (about 40–50 km away).
