Livigno

Types and difficulty of the pistes in Livigno.

Livigno is Europe's most famous sunny resort, with snow cover from December to May. The skiing here is excellent for all levels of skiers. The resort itself is at an altitude of 1800m and the ski area in Livigno is between 1800m and 3000m.

Mountain slope

The total length of Livigno's ski slopes is 115 km. There are 40 km of blue runs, 55 km of red runs and 20 km of black runs. The slopes in Livigno are divided into two ski areas, Carozello and Mottolino. The sun shines on the slopes of Carozello in the morning and then moves on to Mottolino in the afternoon. Mottolino is where Livigno's most difficult ski slopes are concentrated.

In Mottolino, one can take the tele-cabin up to 2349 m and then choose one of the two routes that lead to Monte della Neve at 2785 m, where the red and black slopes are located, or to the Trepalla down the opposite slope. Here the pistes are simpler and there is a direct ski descent to Livigno.

snowboard

Karosello has more blue runs and is accessed mainly by rope tow lifts. The slopes here are ideal for both alpine skiing and snowboarding, with an even, dense snow cover.

Mottolino is also home to the Mottolino Fun Mountain, a huge fan park with an area of 120 km2. It is a great place for snowboarding.

skiers

Freeride is popular in both ski areas of Livigno. But it is worth remembering that since 2010 it has been illegal to freeride without a guide in the resort. This is due to the increased avalanche danger in the region. So for the sake of your safety you should use the services of a guide. Believe me, you will be satisfied. And if you prefer flatland skiing, you'll love the 60km long local trails.
