The history of Sestriere begins in the thirties of the twentieth century. The reason for this was the appearance of the famous hotel towers, in an unknown Piedmont village. It was these that later became the symbol and the calling card of the ski town, and the mountain area itself became a favourite skiing destination for skiers and snowboarders the world over.
