Ski resorts in Italy are long runs, comfortable lifts and well-developed infrastructure. And if among our tourists the local resorts are not yet very popular, then the Europeans have long appreciated their comfort and literally every winter weekend they go skiing.
We have already listed the most popular ski resorts in Italy in the section Where to go in Italy. But in fact, there are much more of them, and many of them are connected to entire ski areas, and skiers can freely ski in several resorts at once in one trip.
Typically, ski tours to Italy are organized in January-February when there is guaranteed snow coverage. However, the ski season lasts from November to April, so if you want to save money, it's worth going during the non-peak season when ski passes and accommodations are cheaper.
The main region for a ski holiday in Italy is, of course, the Dolomites. It is here that all the main resorts are concentrated, which are also the most expensive. The most fashionable among them is Cortina d'Ampezzo. A feature of Italian ski resorts is their proximity to neighboring countries - Switzerland and France. So you can easily cross the border right on your skis. Interesting border resorts include Bormio and Breuil-Cervinia.
