Water Temperature in Kamakura
Kamakura's coast is bathed by Sagami Bay, which is part of the Pacific Ocean. Along the coast, the Pacific Ocean's water temperature remains relatively warm during most of the summer season, from July to October, ranging from +21°C to +26°C. August is the warmest month for swimming in Kamakura. During the period from November to May, the Pacific Ocean's temperature off Kamakura's coast significantly drops. November is relatively warmer at +19°C. The ocean water in Kamakura is coldest in February and March, with temperatures not exceeding +14°C. In late winter and spring, the Pacific Ocean off Kamakura experiences strong waves, especially in the windiest months. These months also see significant swell in the bay. However, for surfers, the strong waves primarily occur along Shichirigahami Beach during the rest of the year. Tides in the Pacific Ocean follow a regular pattern, typically occurring twice a day. Occasionally, Kamakura experiences two low tides and only one high tide in a day. The tidal heights range from 0.7 to 1.3 meters, with the maximum recorded tidal height at 1.6 meters and the minimum at 0.1 meters.
