Lithuania's basic customs regulations.

You can get to Lithuania by plane, train, car.

When entering Lithuania by car, one gasoline canister with a capacity of no more than 10 liters can be carried. Lithuanian customs regulations allow you to import and export any amount of local and foreign currency. Currency does not need to be declared.

How much alcohol can be brought into Lithuania? Tourists over 17 years of age entering Lithuania from non-EU countries may bring into Lithuania (at their choice) 1 liter of strong alcohol (over 22%), 2 liters of liquor, wine or beer.

In terms of tobacco products, non-EU tourists aged 17 and over may import 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco without duty (at their choice).

Among the things that are prohibited to import into Lithuania, you can also name home-made alcohol and ethyl alcohol. As well as fruits, fresh flowers, firearms and cold weapons, drugs and explosives. It is prohibited to import meat and dairy products, including canned food, sausages, eggs and even milk chocolate.

The exception is traditionally considered to be baby food and special medical food for people with various diseases, but even in these cases, the products must have a tight package, and they must weigh no more than 2 kilograms. If meat and dairy products are found at the Lithuanian border, they will be confiscated and the passenger will be fined. There is a limit on the import of edible mushrooms; you can import no more than 10 kilograms of fresh or no more than 5 kilograms of dried mushrooms.

What can I bring on an airplane to Lithuania? Only one piece of sports equipment per person (this applies to a surfboard, bicycle and tent). You can bring no more than one piece of office equipment (from laptop to TV, from camcorder to cell phone). Only cameras can be imported in two copies. Binoculars, typewriters and baby carriages can be imported in one copy. Other goods are traditionally allowed if they are in hand luggage and are not included in the list of prohibitions.

The question of how much alcohol can be taken out of Lithuania is also a question for visitors. There are no restrictions before exporting packaged factory bottles. It is forbidden to export home-made alcohol.

What else is prohibited to take out of Lithuania? These are weapons, drugs, ethyl alcohol, precious and semi-precious stones, pearls, precious metals, tobacco products without excise stamps, meat and dairy products, eggs.

It is forbidden to export unprocessed amber from Lithuania, but any amber products are allowed.

Tax Free system operates throughout the Schengen Agreement. Let us remind you of its basic principles. Look for the Global Blue Tax Free Shopping logo in store windows. When paying for your purchase, ask for a Tax Free Form tax refund check. There are two types of checks, blue and white. Fill in the required fields in block letters of the Latin alphabet.

Allow time for the tax refund process before departing at the airport. Before check-in, go to the customs desk with your completed Tax Free Form, passport, receipts and purchases to have the form stamped. Purchases must be bagged and unused. Do not put your purchases in your luggage as you will need to show them to the customs officer. There will be no refund if there is no customs confirmation.

Go to the tax refund counter with the Global Blue logo. Provide a completed stamped receipt in order to receive your refund on your card or cash. If you are in a hurry, mail your completed stamped receipt to the processing center and receive your tax refund on your credit card. The refund you receive is the amount of VAT less an administration fee
