A feature of Penang's climate is the presence of two rainy seasons. The biggest rainy season sometimes starts as early as August and lasts until November. During this period, the island can experience not only tropical showers, but also hurricanes. Let's face it - it is not the best time to visit the island. The weather during this period can be completely unpredictable. Sunny, clear weather can suddenly set in for a few weeks and then be replaced by hurricane showers.
The time when the second rainy season begins in Penang is not as long. The second rainy season starts at the end of April and lasts until the end of May. During this period, brief rains are interspersed with sunny and warm weather. The only disadvantage of this period is the high humidity, which is sometimes difficult to bear.
The highest rainfall on Penang is in September (356 mm) and October (383 mm). In total, the island receives about 2400 mm of rainfall per year.
When going on vacation during the rainy season, make sure you dress according to the weather forecast.
