The cheapest way to get from the airport to Georgetown is by public transportation. Penang operates the Rapid Penang system. The bus stand is located to the left of the airport exit. There are several bus routes in operation. Route #401E takes you from the airport to Georgetown, via Komtar. Buses depart in 25-30 minutes.
Route #102 goes to Batu Ferringi Beach every 60-80 minutes. The cost of the trip to Georgetown is MYR 2.7. Please note that route #306 does not go to the center of Georgetown. The last bus leaves the airport building at 11:30pm. The buses start at 6:00 am.
Those who like comfort can get to the city by cab. There is a cab stand at the airport exit and a cab order booth at the arrivals hall. Cabs can serve you by meter or by arrangement. A trip to the city will cost you approximately 30 MYR. If you order a car at the cab booth, the fare is a flat rate. You can get to Georgetown for MYR 38 and to Batu Ferringi for MYR 60.
