How to get from Istanbul Airport to the city center?

  • by metro — €3
  • by bus — €5
  • by taxi — from €13

A single metro ride costs €0.79. Bus fare without a special card is €0.64. You can save money by using the IstanbulKart transport card, which costs €1.11. Top up the card at ticket machines and use it to pay for travel on the metro, tram, bus, funicular, Metrobus, and ferries. One ride with the card costs 2.6 lira. If you make another transfer within 2 hours, the fare is reduced: first transfer — 1.85 lira, second transfer — 1.40 lira, third to fifth transfers — 0.90 lira. For the first few days, 30 Turkish lira will be enough for two people. Please note that ticket machines accept only paper banknotes (lira).

Yellow dolmuşes run on short routes, while beige ones reach parts of the old city not served by trams. The fare depends on the distance (fixed prices, around €0.79; you can уточнить it with the driver).
