Kotor is very well located: it is protected from the winds blowing from the land by the Lovcen mountain range, and the neighborhood of the Bay of Kotor and the Škurda River ensure comfortable humidity even in the summer months. Due to the warm Mediterranean climate, the weather forecast in Kotor most often gives the opportunity to open the holiday season as early as April. It is at this time that the first cruise ships call at Boka Kotorska. In general, the bathing season lasts about 140 days and usually starts in June and ends in early October.
Kotor's flora and fauna.
According to the Constitution of Montenegro, the country is an "ecological state". There are about 3000 species of plants, 22 of which are endemic to Montenegro, so the vegetation of Kotor pleases tourists with an abundance of lush greenery and its species diversity. There are palm trees, pine trees, makvis, beech, olive trees, citrus trees and grapes.
The animal world of Kotor is most diverse in the forests. Here you can find wild boar, lynx, brown bear, wild goats, graceful chamois and deer. Closer to the coast there are jackals, lizards and turtles. The city streets are home to many cats and parks are home to agile squirrels. The waters of the Bay of Kotor are rich in fish.
