You should start your acquaintance with Oslo with a visit to the historical center - Damstredet district. The oldest preserved buildings were built in the XVIII century. Once it was settled here mainly by poor city dwellers, but then this part of Oslo became popular with representatives of creative bohemia, after which the construction of luxurious mansions began.
The National Gallery and the Munch Museum are waiting for lovers of painting (his painting "The Scream" is known even to people far from art). There are a lot of museums in Oslo dedicated to navigation: the Maritime Museum, the museum of the polar ship "Fram", the museum "Kon-Tiki" (there is a partially restored raft on which Thor Heyerdahl crossed the Pacific Ocean), as well as the museum of Viking ships (here you will see three rooks of the IX century, raised from the bottom of the sea, where they lay for about 1000 years).
Obviously look at the Vigeland Sculpture Park - one of the most famous in the country. There are 227 compositions by Gustav Vigeland, which depict people in various activities. Admission is free.
The building of the National Opera House of Norway with a very original shape stands out among the modern sights. Its electricity is partly provided by solar panels located on the facade.
