Most of Cebu's beaches are not located on the island itself. There are no beaches around Cebu City as its coastal zone is occupied by the port. It takes at least 30 minutes by cab to reach the nearest island beaches. The sand on most of the beaches is golden, and there are practically no tropical white-sand beaches on Cebu.
Except for the only white sand beach in Moalboal. This beach is relatively far away from the city and hotels, and is virtually untouched by civilization. But the azure waves and white sand create the atmosphere of a truly paradisiacal place.
Beaches on Cebu are concentrated on the western and southern tip of the island. There are alternating sandy and pebble beaches and rocky coral coves. But the best beaches in Cebu province lie on the nearby islands. Among them are the beaches of Malapascua Island, white and pink, under a canopy of palm thickets. Beaches on the smaller islets of Sumilon, Pavillion, Balicasag, and Siquijor are also popular.
The most popular beach part of Cebu province is Mactan Island, with its beaches and hotels. Admittedly, the answer to the question of which beach is best to choose in this part of Cebu is not the easiest. All beaches in Mactan are paid, and those that are relatively inexpensive are constantly filled with locals. Beaches near hotels are quite expensive and work for a limited time. But they are well stocked, and beach fees often include lunch.
One of the best beaches in Mactan is the Blue Water Maribago, located near the hotel. Entrance there costs PHP 1,450 during the daytime on weekdays and PHP 1,650 in the evening. This amount includes lunch or dinner, depending on the time of visit. On weekends, beach access costs PHP 1,750 and PHP 2,050. Beach towels and swimming pools are also available for this price.
For PHP 3,500 per day, the Imperial Palace Resort and Spa not only offers beach and swimming but also all the attractions of the local water park. The beach visit amount also includes lunch.
On the beach at Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, you'll find charming saltwater lagoons and plenty of activities - boats, kayaks, a rock climbing wall, and more.
There is an excellent beach on Pandanon Island, which is about an hour's boat ride from Mactan. Here you will find great white sand, picturesque gazebos and delicious fried clams according to local recipes.
In terms of beaches around Cebu, Bantayan Island is also popular, with gorgeous white-sand shores washed by azure waves.
