The Philippine Islands are situated entirely in the Pacific Ocean, yet they extend into the marginal seas. Cebu Island is closest to the Mindanao Sea, with its shores bordering the straits between it and neighboring islands—the Bohol Strait on one side and the Tanon Strait on the other.
The temperatures in the Cebu Straits consistently remain above +25°C, providing comfortable warmth even during winter, ideal for swimming. The only challenge for about half the year is the rainy season. Throughout summer, the water temperature in the Cebu Straits hovers around +30°C. The island's climate is remarkably stable in terms of temperature, with minimal fluctuation in the Cebu Straits, maintaining a mere 5-degree difference throughout the year.
The Cebu Straits generally have gentle waves, offering calm waters conducive to tranquil relaxation. However, noticeable tides are a characteristic of these straits, much to the delight of surfers.
