Gdańsk, the ancient seaside city, was founded in 997 AD. It is not only one of the oldest but also the largest city in Poland. Tourists flock here for its unique architecture, city landmarks, and, of course, the seaside. Although the waters of the Baltic Sea are not always suitable for swimming due to their cold temperatures, the salty air and the sound of the waves give Gdansk a special charm.
The medieval architecture of the Old Town with its narrow, cobblestone streets, museums, and cozy cafes is sure to captivate any traveler. Among its attractions are the Royal Route and the Church of St. Mary. There are numerous magnificent churches in Gdansk, but the Mariacka Basilica stands out for its elegance. The city is also home to many museums, such as the Archaeological Museum, Malbork Castle, and ship museums located at the quay in Gdynia.
Gdansk and its surroundings are rich in parks and green spaces. The Tri-City Landscape Park and the Oliwa Park are favorite places for locals to take walks. Additionally, there are many private beaches near the city where visitors can sunbathe and swim during the brief warm days of the Baltic summer.
