When in Madrid for the first time, don't rush to the museums. First, walk the streets, be sure to look at the Puerta del Sol, surrounded by buildings built in the XVIII century, and then - in Spain Square, where there is an interesting monument to Cervantes, part of which are the figures of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.
If you come to Madrid between March and October and are the owner of strong nerves, do not miss the opportunity to visit the bullfight. Fights are held at the famous Las Ventas arena, tickets cost from 5 EUR (the price depends on the convenience of seats and their distance from the center of the arena).
Also worth a visit are the flamenco dance shows. As a rule, they are held in restaurants, and you can enjoy the spectacle with a glass of good wine or a delicious dinner.
By the way, about food. Madrid will not leave indifferent even the most sophisticated gourmets. There are very interesting restaurants of traditional cuisine, for example, Botin, which is officially recognized as the oldest in the world (this fact is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records). Try sosido (a dish similar to meat hodgepodge), shorizo (spicy pork sausage), roast oxtail. A glass of Spanish wine will perfectly complement the taste of meat dishes.
