Playa de las Americas is one of the most popular resorts in Tenerife. Discos and nightclubs are concentrated in the center, around the Sol Tenerife Hotel, where the fun goes on all night long. In the eastern part of the city is crowded during the day, but by midnight most of the establishments close.
The resort has 8 beaches with black volcanic sand. All of them are equipped with breakwaters, which allow you to swim in the ocean year-round. Entrance to any beach is free, but you will have to pay for renting an umbrella or sunbed. If you want to go for a boat trip on a yacht, boat or catamaran, or try your hand at deep-sea fishing, come to the port of Puerto Colon.
There are two water parks in Playa de las Americas: AquaLand (its attractions are quite old, but it is worth visiting the dolphin show) and modern Siam Park, the pride of which is the Tower of Power slide with a height of 28 meters and a pool with artificial waves reaching three meters.
In the evenings, the San Miguel Bastion hosts theatrical performances: six knights fight for the title, and the winner is chosen by the audience. The Fantasia Canaria Carnival, famous for its folkloric dance shows, is also held nearby.
